While some users will be familiar with the popular range of GR8 safety knives, others may not be aware of all the design benefits for knife safety and efficient cutting.

What is a GR8 Safety Knife?

The GR8 safety knife features a fully-enclosed blade which has been specifically designed to cut a wide range of materials, most commonly used in a wide range of businesses today such as cardboard, shrink wrap, netting and strapping to name but a few.

GR8’s distinctive hook design provides by far the most user-friendly cutting action, which is best described as ‘smooth slicing’ as less force is required when using this safety knife.  It’s rather like slicing a loaf of bread and definitely doesn’t require brute force!

The cutting action is designed for knife safety, and is either towards the body or in a downward direction depending on the application.

The fully enclosed blade is never exposed for the ultimate in knife safety and consequently is a huge asset in helping to prevent cut-related accidents.

How Can a GR8 Safety Knife help me?

We always recommend training to ensure the correct technique is applied when using a GR8 safety knife.  (We must stress using a GR8 is easy and user-friendly – it’s just a case of technique.)  When used in the correct way, GR8 safety knives increase safety and produce a higher than average cutting performance, saving money through reduced blade wear.

Selecting the right GR8 safety cutter is key to getting the best performance out of this range of safety knives.  Moving Edge has introduced product data sheets to help select the perfect safety knife.

What are the Main Features and Benefits of GR8?

All the GR8 safety knives incorporate the ‘moving edge action’ which reduces blade wear and increases cutting performance.

The ergonomically designed GR8 safety knife automatically slices when the knife is under tension during the cut, and is best suited to long smooth cutting actions.   Once the knife reaches its stop, release the tension and cut again.  Remember the bread slicing action we referred to above!

As the blade moves, the area of contact between the blade and the material to be cut is increased.   It is this feature that also helps create a longer lifespan for the blade.

GR8 Primo and Pro safety knives offer the option of blade removal.  This allows the blade to be removed and reversed, or replaced entirely if required.  Blade reversal gives double the lifespan and saves costs
